A trip to the Falls
Hi everyone..
Sorry its been a while, I've been extremely busy as of late. I finally got this new site up and running so I'm going to start blogging again as much as possible.
Last Friday my buddy Brohmsy gave me a call saying they were partying up in Niagara falls for the weekend, so me and Two decided we head up on Saturday, party all night, grab a hotel room and be back for Sunday. So Saturday afternoon Two wakes me up and says be ready in an hour, Alp (a friend of ours) and Azim were gonna pick us up in a limo and we're all gonna head to the falls. I couldn't complain too much about that! The limo ride up was a bit of a mess, drank vodka and champagne the whole way up while having a good time with the boys. When we got to our suites a couple of the guys left to watch the Sabres game, so I threw on a robe and chilled with Two and Azim in the hotel. That night we headed out for drinks and basically chilled and had a good time. This weekend I really had zero intentions of playing poker whatsoever, but after we got back from the bar the first thing Two and Azim did was put us down on the list. A funny thing actually happened when we got back to the casino.. Two walked into the casino and the security guard made me wait in line, in front of me were a bunch of drunk kids trying to get in and causing a problem with the security guards. So after a couple minutes Two goes to the security guard and asks him if he doesn't mind IDing me quickly so we wouldn't lose our seats in the poker room. Well this piece of shit security guard must of had his Wheaties for breakfast cuz he snaps at Two for no reason and tells me to go to the back of the line, so Two walks away and the security guard says, "Did you just call me an asshole??!"... me and Two look at each other like what the hell is this guy talking about. A scene breaks out because Two is trying to tell the guy he didn't call him anything, and this meat head security guard kept accusing Two of saying it. The whole situation was quite the joke, because first off, this guy had no idea that the casino sent a limo to come pick us up in Toronto and compted us 2 suites in the hotel just to come play! And he won't even let us in!.. lol To make a longer story short, a friend of ours came out and smoothed over the situation and we eventually proceeded in the casino. I never play poker when I'm drinking for obvious reasons.. but Two and Azim were playing and it was early, so I jumped into a 5/5NL game with 500 bucks to have some fun. That first hour of playing the deck really slapped me in the face, I couldn't miss anything. I would get Aces, flop came A,9,8.. the other guy had 99.. .I'd grab his stack... Then I had Q,J.. flop came A,K,10... and I'd grab another guy's stack. In about an hour I managed to break my table and grabbed about $1400. Mind you, with the cards I was getting and the flops I was hitting, a blind folded monkey would of probably came out with the same results.. its not that I played bad, but I didn't play amazing either.. I just managed to get my money in good and not take any bad beats... and I also had a very weak table. After I broke my table they moved me to Azim and Two's table so I decided to cash out because I didn't want to be playing at the same table as them. As the Rounder's quote goes, "If we wanted to take each other's rolls, we could have just stayed home." So we cashed out had some breakfast, then I hit the sack for a few hours before the limo drove us home at noon. All and all is was a good time. Looking forward to doing it again soon.

As for online poker goes I really haven't played that much in the last few weeks. When I have played i've really gotten into the omaha games online lately. Months back I used to play the 15/30 and 30/60 regularly online and did quite well, but as I got into playing all the tourney's I cut out the cash games so I could focus on the tournaments. Anyways I've been playing low stakes Omaha hi online until so I can really learn the game. The worst thing a player can do is jeopardize his bankroll playing in high limit games that you're not the strongest at. So i'm grinding it out playing 2/4 and 3/6 pot limit games until I feel I'm strong enough to beat the big games. Serge has been getting into Omaha a lot lately also, so we've been able to discuss hands and really learn off each other as we both continually improve. For those who don't know.. Omaha you use 4 cards in your hand compared to Hold'em where you only have 2 whole cards.

These next few months I'm going to start playing regularly again and prepare myself for the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas around June time.
I'll let you all know how the battle goes...
Jay
