Deep

The last couple days I've been able to get in a bunch of hours at the tables and have been running/playing good.   I've been 6-tabling .40/.80 Deep NL, although the stakes sound small the games are bigger then they seem.  The max buy-in is $160 and min is $80 which is great because there's no short stacks on these tables.  Theres nothing more annoying then sitting at a table with a bunch of stupid short stacks ruining the flow of the game.  I know that beating up on short stacks is profitable and I know I've made a bunch of money from them, but they are just so incredibly annoying it makes me spin.  Its horrible when you pick up a big hand like Aces or Kings and raise to only have some short stack donk move all-in for 11 bucks killing all your action.  And when these guy's manage to win a hand off you they pull a hit and run so fast your head would spin.  Oh well though, like I said I've won good money off these guys so I guess they can be alright for the game.  But getting back to what I was saying, this deep game has a minimum buy-in of 80 big blinds which eliminates short stacks and the maximum is much bigger then regular tables.  So I've managed to do quite well at these tables and have gotten into a lot of interesting hands because the stacks are bigger allowing more play post-flop.  Unfortunately these tables don't get going that often because generally recreational players don't feel comfortable sitting deep stacked.

I'm trying a new thing I read in an article from Cardrunners pro Taylor Caby.  It basically talks about withdrawing a small amount of your online poker bankroll every week no matter if you've won or lost.  To set an amount and withdraw it every week so you can actually SEE the cash.  It might sound dumb or obvious but when paying online all the time, money can feel a little surreal.  You just continuously look at a number and the value of the dollar really goes out the window.  It can kind of feel like a video game.  So by withdrawing a little bit every week it allows you to actually feel the cash and do what you want with it.  Kind of like a reward.  I've never done this before, I've always just withdrew money as a I needed it.  If I was heading to Vegas and needed $5,000, I would withdraw it and use it for poker.  But I'm going to try his method and see if it positively affects my mindset.

Outside of poker not too much has been going on, finally getting over this sickness although my stomach does still feel a little queasy after eating.  Going to be heading to Guelph this weekend for Easter and will probably just relax and not play any cards...who knows though I always seem to find myself playing when I'm at home because I always run so good there.  This week me and Julie are condo hunting so hopefully we can wrap up a place soon.

** I just wrote a whole other part to this blog with hands I played and analysis but for some stupid reason it won't post.. an error comes up when I try to post it with the hands on it.  So when I get it working I'll make another blog with a bunch of hands.
