Late Night

So the hockey game is about to go into the 3rd period and I can barely keep my eyes open.  I know its not even that late, its like 12:30ish but I've been on a good sleeping schedule since I moved into my new place and I'm usually sleeping right now.  To tell you the truth the hockey game is on but I'm barely watching, I just can't go to bed not knowing who won, I hope this thing doesn't go to like 5 or 6 overtimes or I'm going to pass out on my couch.  I was actually scrolling through the games on Full Tilt this hour and the games look super soft, I may need to start playing some later sessions.

Poker has finally swung around and I've had 4 winning days in a row since my lethal downswing.  I know it sounds cliché but that downswing really taught me a lot.  I know its very tough to play well when you're losing but going back and analyzing all my big losing hands I realized I didn't make too many mistakes.. was just getting super unlucky.  In the online poker world they call it the 'doom switch' being turned on, well hopefully its off for a while becauseI plan on having my big month.  I was looking at a post on the 2+2 forums and they posted the top winners at 1/2nl and some of these guys are making serious cash.  There were many players who won +$10,000 in a single month grinding at these limits.  I'm still very new to 1/2nl, but I know I can accomplish these figures.

The world series just started in Vegas a couple days ago and everything looks amazing.  I've gone the last two years and its always my favorite time of the year.  The energy down there at this time is unreal.  This year plans are a little different and I'm not sure if I'll be going.  I really want to go but I'm trying to be smart with my poker bankroll right now and going down there and playing in some big tournaments could really put a dent in it.  Years in the past I would do anything to go, but right now I don't feel comfortable dropping $5,000-$10,000 on a pipe dream to win a huge tournament.  My older brother Rob is down there right now with his poker show covering the series, so I may head down there and chill with him for a few days and may play a few small tournaments.  But who knows.  For me its like a kid in a candy store and telling him he can't touch anything.  I know once I get there, it will get my juices flowing and convince myself to play in big tournaments I shouldn't be playing in.  Another reason I'm probably not going to go because its going to give me incentive to get better and make more money so I can go next year and comfortably play in some of the events.  There are some WSOP main even satellites coming up online in the next couple weeks which I'll probably take a shot at.. and if I happen to win a seat I'll definitely fly down for that.  Aside from that, I may just be a spectator this year.

Ok, Pittsburgh just scored .. time for bed.. I'm too tired to proof read anything I wrote, so I apologize if its illegible.

Night..

Jay
