Cap it

Me and Eskal were chillin yesterday and both had the itch to shoot some live poker.  We've had some pretty epic live sessions together at either Fallsview, Brantford or Port Perry.  We decided to shoot some limit to mix things up.  Years ago I actually started playing only limit.  Back when I started they didn't have No limit holdem at the casino's so you had to play limit.  I loved it.  I would drive from Guelph to Brantford in about 40 mins and shoot the lights out.  Back then I had to hide how much I played, I would tell my folks I was going to sleep at a buddy's house then I was take the car and go shoot at night and have the car back home before my mom started work.  Yes I know I was a degenerate fuck, but I just loved to shoot.  Anyways I completely forgot that the CNE opens a casino and poker room every summer, so we decided to go there and save a long drive. (There is nothing worse then getting raped at the tables and having a long silent drive home).  When we got there we immediately got seats at the 10/20 tables and started to fire away.  Before I was even dealt my first hand I was able to pin point all the fish.  Whether it was by the way they were talking, playing with their chips or falling asleep at the table.... they were extremely easy to point out.  The game was really sick, guys were playing any two cards to the river hoping their bottom pair was good.  This is pretty standard for limit holdem but this was sicker then anything I've ever seen.  For example one hand I raised with KJ of clubs and got 4 callers.  The flop was 10,4,2 with two clubs and I ended up capping the betting.  The turn was a red 9 and I once again capped the betting with all 4 players still calling.  The river was a beautiful 3 of clubs.  It was checked to me, I bet, EVERYONE called, I flipped over a flush and the second best hand was top pair.  One guy even called with pocket 5's on the river.  Just retardedness.  Anyways I was able to run pretty good and booked a $700 win, which isn't bad from not playing live limit holdem in ages.

Today I got back to the online grind and had an annoying day.  Lost some big pots where I had good equity.  I was able to win some decent sized pots to somewhat even out the session only losing about a buy-in.  Not too much I can do.  Once again I did play one hand like a big fucking idiot, but there was only one of those today.. So at least I'm making progress!

Here's some of my losing hands of the session:

^Super super frustrating..

^ This was an interesting hand I lost.  I think the other guy played the hand pretty well and I probably should of folded the AQs preflop out of position.  On the turn I would of really like if I lead into him giving myself some fold equity.  If I jam the turn, he is put in a really tough decision with a hand like AJ,AQ or even bottom two pair like he had.  Calling an all-in with bottom two on that board is never fun.  Once the turn brings a King of hearts I know I'm never folding, so I think pushing all in into him would of been the correct play.  After I check/shove, I still have about 43% equity which isn't great, but its all right.  But I brick the river and lose pot.

Here's a winning hand:

^ I actually really like this hand.  The replayer doesn't show the timing, but on the river I time banked down to my very last few seconds.. then value shoved.  I feel like if I would of shoved quickly the guy would of folded.  But after time banking down, it gave the guy a chance to think I'm wanting to bluff.  I could be just over analyzing to make myself feel good.. but whatever, ship the pot.

Alright time for dinner...

Jay
