Shoot loose

Had an interesting session today.  I was losing some pretty gross hands, getting it all in with significant equity and getting sucked out on.  But those hands really didn't bother me at all.  I think this capped game has helped me control my emotions a bit in all-in pots.  You get it all-in so often in this game that you can't get excited or upset by the outcome.  When I'm playing 1/2NL no cap, you might get it all-in 3 or 4 times in a session, maybe less.. so when an all-in happens, its a little more exciting.. but in the 2/4 cap game, you might get it all in 10-20 times.  I've gotten to the point when I get it all in for a coin flip I barely pay attention, I know coin flips in the long run are going to even out, so no point in getting happy if I win.

I was talking to my brother yesterday and he asked me what advantage I have playing in this capped game,  thought it would be fitting to talk about it here.  Because to be honest, my advantage decreases in this capped game and gives the fish for of an advantage than my regular game.  The reason is because there isn't too much post flop play, the game kinda plays like the ending stages of a sit and go.  Establishing if your range is ahead of your opponents, and stick it in.  Also identifying which players are in there gambling, and which guys are waiting for the nuts.  So the reason I play is because the fish are just soooo bad that its worth my time to play.  I don't need to get into the specifics because I did that in my last blog, but some of these guys are just incredibly bad.  The second these games dry up, I'll quit them... because there's no point playing this game against good regulars.

Ok lets get into some hands from today.  I'll start with the losers..

Loser:

^ This outcome is just nasty.. I remember punching this hand in an odds calculator and I had almost 90% equity going into the river.

Loser:

^ blah

Loser:

^ I know it probably looks like I'm spewing here, but I really couldn't put this guy on a hand I couldn't beat.  I guess he confused me by calling with J,8 of hearts on a 3,2,4 flop..lol

^ Well he tried his best to give me all his money.. grrr

Ok enough with these stupid losing hands, lets get to some winners:

Winner: (1/2nl)

^ Ok this was a big winner from a 1/2NL game I was playing at the same time.  This hand is pretty interesting actually.  I know my opponent is a good regular and I have notes that he can be very aggro and tricky.  This is also a deep table which makes things more interesting.  I contemplated 4 betting preflop and just folding to a shove, but I was afraid because we were so deep he might just flat that raise with and speculative hand.  Anyways,  I decide to call and get a pretty good flop.  I don't think there's any value on raising the flop because its going to keep in his good hands and he'll fold out his bad ones. (He's not going to call me down with k,Q or K,J and if he calls my raise I'm probably losing).  On the turn is a tricky spot, I time banked and contemplated checking raising the turn, I didn't want some funky hand getting there on the river and I wanted to protect my hand.  But I felt this guy is aggressive enough to bluff a blank river if I just call, so I did.  I actually called the river pretty quickly, at this point if he had me beat, he was beating me the whole way and I know my hand looks very weak and he thinks I'll fold one pair.  If he showed me Aces that would of sucked, but luckily for me he was bluffing the whole way.

Winner: 1/2NL

^ I had this guy tagged as a fish.  I really like my check on the river, I felt he had a big hand and knew he would bet the river and I could extract some extra value.

Winner: 2/4NL cap

^ Like honestly... I have NO idea what the hell is going through this guy's mind on the flop.  And I know it wasn't a misclick because he was playing like a moron the whole time.  I think I said this in my last blog, but finding guys like this is like printing money.

Winner: 2/4NL cap

^ I swear to god I never hit these, feels good to hit one of my million outs.

Aside from poker not much is going on.  Oh yeah we had another poker night with all my cousin's which is always a good time.  I think in my last 5 sit and goes at a home game I'm 0-5.  When you get no cards in these little tourney's it makes it pretty much impossible to win.  Also my puppy was a cold and decided she doesn't want to sleep at night and keep my awake.  Last night I almost threw myself off my balcony when she wouldn't stop barking.  I'm kind of a dork when it comes to her and I'm training her 24/7.  There's nothing worse than when people have a stupid dog who doesn't listen and yaps all the time.  So I strive on having a smart dog.

Ok back to the tables..
