Folded
Firstly lets go back to the hand from the last blog. I had a few of you msg me asking what the other guy had, and I didn't have an answer because I folded. Before you think 'how the hell did he fold', lets go back and dissect the hand from the beginning. If you haven't seen the hand its in my last blog.
We already established that his range is fairly wide preflop and is probably a fishy player. Now on the flop if he has a King, he's almost certainly betting in position. Also if he has a flush draw he's probably betting also. If he has a 10 he could be checking or betting. Now on the turn after I bet, if he was slow playing a King, he's probably always raising me here, I can't see him checking the flop and just check/calling the turn with a King... so we can pretty much take a King out of his range a high % of the time. Like I mentioned before, when he calls the turn it certainly looks like a 10 or possibly a draw, but leaning towards a 10. Now on the river when he 3 bets my value bet to $110, I'm almost certain that I'm beat here. We already established that he most likely doesn't have a King in his hand, and if he did have a King in his hand, there's no way he's shoving on the river... My hand looks like I have trip 10's, it would be ridiculous to shove top pair on that river. Now that only leaves two options, he either has trips 10's with a better kicker than mine, or he has a busted draw. I hadn't been out of line at that table, so he has no reason to try and bluff me on the river in a limped pot. And when we go back to his open limping range, A10,K10,Q10,J10, and 9,10 all hands he would probably limp with. I haven't done the math with this hand, but I feel like I'm rarely good here.
I was having a discussion with my brother and he was kinda pissed that I posted a hand where we don't know the results. And I explained to him that what he had in that hand is completely irrelevant. Thats being result oriented and not an approach you want to take in poker. You have to think of what decisions are +EV in the long run. If you played that exact hand a 1000 times, what decision would make you the most money out of all those hands. If I called and the guy showed a busted draw, it doesn't mean I made the right decision.. Every decision you make at the table determines your long term win rate. You have to examine all the variables and make the best decision you can make with the information thats given to you. This is where the best players excell from the average players. A lot of average players will make there decision based on whether they are tilting or not. I'll admit, if I was losing in that session and was slightly tilting, I probably would of snap called there out of frustration. But the great players are able to evaluate every hand the same whether they are winning or losing.
Anyways, enough with that hand. I've played a few sessions over the last couple days and things have gone pretty good. I've lost some shitty hands but they were pretty standard. I'll post some of the hands below:
(And excuse all the spelling mistakes in this blog, everytime I try to use spell checker this stupid site freezes)
