PA is a Beast

If you missed tonight's episode of High Stakes Poker or just don't watch it.  You have to check out this ridiculous hand by Patrik Antonius...  I've seen it multiple times online before tonight's episode, but I forgot how sick it was till I saw it again.

Check it out:

I'm not going to get into specifics on how insane this hand is, but this just reassures the fact that PA is one of the best players in the world and is on a complete other level.

I've been pretty glued to my TV lately with the NHL/NBA playoffs going on and a bunch of tv shows on my pvr that I need to catch up on... and with this sick weather its been tough to sit inside and play poker.  But I did have a decent finish to last week and I've been experimenting playing 9 tables instead of my usual 6-7.  To be honest it hasn't been too much of a difference.  A lot of the tables have the same regulars who I have pretty good read on and the other remaining players are the ones I focus on.  I also use HUD stats that basically display my opponent's stats on the table for any information I didn't personally observe.  With the added tables it obviously kicks up my rakeback $$$ which is nice and I'll stick with it unless I see a decrease in my winrate.

I'm on my laptop so I don't have many recent hand histories on here, but I found a few I thought were kinda cool.  I'm still grinding 2/4 and 3/6 mostly and haven't made the permanent jump to 5/10 yet.  I've been sticking to the cap games because to be honest I'm crushing them and the games are still super soft.  I keep telling myself that as soon as these games dry up I'll go back to my normal games, but its been a while now and the fish keep coming.

Anyways here's a few hands I found:

^ Poker is an easy game when you flop the stones against top set and an overpair.. HOLD ONE TIME!

^ As you can see guys continue to get it in light preflop.  I mean folding 88 in my opponents spot is so incredibly standard, but some people just can't fold a pair no matter what.

^ This guy/or girl was a complete fish.  He ran up a stack by playing horribly.. I like the line I took in this hand because I think its the best way to get the most value against a fish who continues to run bluffs.  In this hand I'm not sure if he was bluffing or value betting, but against an opponent like that, I had zero intentions of folding at any point.  Just had to decide how I could extract as much value as possible and fortunately it worked out this time.

^ Now this is against the same guy who shoved with 8,8 a couple hands ago.  I once again really liked the way I played this hand.  Preflop I 3-bet more than usual basically because I know from observing him and his stats that he wasn't folding to any 3 bets and would call with any 2 cards.  So by raising more than usual, it pretty much commits me to get it in on any flop and will probably have decent equity unless he's slow playing a big hand.  I end up getting a good flop and decide checking is best.  I obviously have no intentions of folding this hand, but by checking I'm allowing my opponent to hang himself instead of me blowing him off the hand by  c-betting.  If he had complete air on that flop, or a small pair.. he might fold if I just shove into him on the flop... but by checking he might shove any pair, a Queen, or a complete bluff.  I know some times he will check back and might outdraw me on the turn, but that happens so seldom that it makes this play profitable.  Unfortunately he caught a lucky flop and flopped bottom two pair and I got it in with only 27% equity, but fortunately for me I'm a luckbox and catch running 4's..

Alright I'm pretty exhausted and gonna hit the sack.. my schedule this week is fairly free so I play on playing as much as I can.

Later..
Jay
