What up
What's going on..
The last couple days including the session I just finished have kinda sucked. Just losing a bunch of standard hands, nothing big. I did chase a fish up to 5/10 where I got raped for like 5 buy-ins in like 10 minutes.. lost 3 flips and ran QQ into KK and 77 into 99 all in pre. I was looking to play more 5/10 this month but the games have been pretty shitty, probably b/c of the wsop, the guys are just stacked with regs.
I've been sweating a bunch of the wsop tourney's and I'm pretty spun I'm not there trying to win a bracelet. It looks like I might be going the beginning of July right after I get home from the Dominican but who knows. The problem is when you're down there its tough to only play one or two tournaments. I remember last time I went, I played on playing 2 events and ended up playing 4 or 5. You get such a fever to win a bracelet that the money doesn't feel real and you just keep buying into events. So who knows, if I don't play any events this year it will probably be for the better.. I'll be able to go next year with a much bigger bankroll to play in a bunch of events and really give myself a shot.
Lol as I'm writing this blog I'm reading a forum post on 2+2 which is hilarious. The thread is called
"Phil Ivey is the Stone Cold Nuts"
Here's the post,
"I think the other most important thing about Ivey is the man literally has an aura surrounding him. Ask anyone.
It doesn't matter what he does. Kind of like how Patrik Antonius can 4-bet A2o and flop A22 vs. AK. He does ****, and it just works, except on a whole other level. People try to bluff him but never in good spots and they always end up in some ****ed position vs. him facing some ridiculous spot and raise.
I'm probably getting these stories confused cuz one was Mastr in LA and one was JC Alvarado, don't know where so forgive for mixing details. Anyone one of them was at some aggro talkative table. Ivey walks up and everyone just stops talking and looks scared. For the rest of the day, everyone is just staring at Ivey, watching him. He really has an aura, like everyone just watches everything he does and immediately looks away if they come close to making eye contact.
He just plays every hand and tramples people, in between hands he slouches in his chair and texts away, occasionally throwing chips into the pot while texting. Cuz who the **** is gonna break out the rule book on him anyway?
At some point this big black dudes walks up to him and hes carrying a buncha bags and he gives them to Ivey and leaves. Ivey pulls a belt out of one and just puts it on. Keep in mind literally every person at the table is staring at him all the time, and most of the people who aren't in a hand in a close proximity.
He takes his watch off, this $80k watch, opens the bag, and pulls out some lotion. And he puts lotion on his wrist where he was wearing the watch. Slowly applying it while everyone watches transfixed. Then he puts the watch back on, goes back into a bag, and grabs a thing of gummy bears and starts putting them in his mouth. Then he turns his head and looks my friend right in the eye, as though just noticing that everyone in the room is staring at him and never even considering that he was doing an abnormal thing. And he pulls a gummy bear out, holds it up to him, and goes "ya want one?" - Action Jeff
Hahaha that shit just cracks me up.. It reminds me when I was in Vegas my very first time. I was sitting in the $1500 No-Limit WSOP tourney and was extremely nervous. Everyone at my table was fairly chatty but I sat quietly. As I won my first pot and I noticed Phil Ivey climb under the red rope and was looking for this table. As my eyes were glued on him like he was a naked woman, Out of the corner of my eye I can see the guys at my table doing the exact same thing. While he was walking he dropped something, in sync all the heads at the table slowly tilted downwards analyzing what he may of dropped, and rose and he stood and walked to his table. Finally the dealer banged his chip tray which startled everyone but got our attention back to the game.
I laugh out loud when I think of that story, because the guy who wrote that post is so right, he just has an aura that surrounds him that make grown men stop in their tracks to watch him.
Anyways there's a bunch of big games on Full Tilt right now I'm going to sweat then hit the sack.
