Poker has been real frustrating lately. I've been working hard and focusing on my game, but the results just aren't there. I'm in a weird pattern right now, its not that I'm losing everyday.. I'm just in this annoying break-even streak. One day I'll kill it for 3-4k, then the next day I'll give it right back. Thats been my pattern the last week or two, and as soon as I think I'm getting out of it, I'll hit another rough patch. A lot of it is just short term variance and running pretty badly. Its not so much running below ev, its more of the non stop coolers. Continuously running into the top of people's ranges... 9,9 running into 10,10.. J,J running into Q,Q.. just shit like that. Again the worst part about it is that its happening at 5/10, which is resulting in bigger swings. I know I'll be a big winner at this limit in the long run once I get through this stretch...I'm just hoping it comes sooner rather than later. In the mean time I'm just going to continue to work hard and play my best.
I don't really have too much else to blog about... during these stretches I do find it gives me added motivation. As I'm writing this blog I'm replaying hands in my head and mistakes I made. The few months prior to this one I was winning so much, I didn't focus on my game nearly as much as I should. Now, I not only have to work hard at improving my game, but just focus on keeping my head straight outside of poker. When I get extremely busy away from the tables, it seems to affect my game. I'll play less and won't be very dedicated. I can see that even from the amount of hands I've played this month, it has been my lowest volume this year. Next month I'm looking to fix that up.
Last Saturday I did manage to make a final table in a HORSE tourney. Julie was shopping in Chicago so I played a couple tourney's. I ended up finishing 5th, the blinds got pretty big near the end and I lost a couple crucial pots in the home stretch. It was a low limit tournament so it didn't pay too much, i just played it to continue and try to get better at mixed games. I was actually looking at some of my tournament results this year and they've been pretty good considering I hardly play them anymore. I have a couple Omaha h/l tournament wins, a Razz tournament win, a Horse win, and bunch of other mixed games final tables. I have a feeling during the football game I'll be playing more tournaments while watching the games on Sunday.
Alright I'm getting pretty tired.. gonna hit the sack.
